As a Savannah wedding photographer, I’m lucky to witness some truly magical celebrations, and Meghan and McKenzie’s wedding at Belfair Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina was nothing short of unforgettable. Set beneath a canopy of iconic Lowcountry oak trees, their ceremony was the perfect mix of Southern elegance and personal touches that made their day truly their own.

A Ceremony Beneath the Oaks

Meghan and McKenzie exchanged vows under one of Belfair’s breathtaking oak trees, surrounded by Spanish moss. It was the kind of setting every couple dreams of—romantic, timeless, and undeniably Southern. Guests were treated to sweeping views and the soft sounds of a string quartet as the couple said “I do.”

Burying the Bourbon – And It Worked!

A fun and very Southern tradition made a special appearance on their big day: burying a bottle of bourbon upside down at the ceremony site to ward off rain. And it worked—not a single drop fell on their wedding day! After the outdoor cocktail hour by the marsh, Meghan and McKenzie dug up the bottle, took a celebratory sip, and toasted to the perfect weather and even better company.

Dinner, Dancing, and Dress Cutting

Following the ceremony and cocktail hour, guests moved inside for a beautiful dinner reception filled with candlelight, laughter, and heartfelt toasts. But the real party started outdoors, where the couple and their guests danced the night away under the stars. In a moment that perfectly captured the carefree joy of the night, the bridesmaids cut their dresses to cool off, and guests even danced with the extra fabric like streamers on the dance floor. It was wild, wonderful, and 100% Meghan and McKenzie.
